Expressive E Osmose 61 CE MIDI Controller

The Expressive E Osmose 61 CE brings the full expressive power of the Osmose keybed technology to a 61-key format, giving performers and producers a wider range and more room to play while retaining every dimension of the system’s per-note expressivity. Like the 49-key CE, it is built around the same proprietary keybed as the Osmose synthesizer — without the internal sound engine — making it the instrument of choice for players whose sounds live in their DAW, plugins, or external hardware synthesizers. The keybed captures eight gestural dimensions per note: Tap, Press, Pitch Bend, Vibrato, Shake, Strum, Portamento (Press Glide), and Expressive Note-Off, enabling players to bend individual notes inside chords, add independent vibrato to any key, and shape every phrase from attack through release with an expressivity impossible on a conventional MIDI controller.

The Osmose 61 CE operates in three modes — MPE Controller, Traditional MIDI Controller, and DAW Controller — covering the full range from MPE-native plugins and hardware synthesizers through to standard MIDI workflows. Native DAW integration is available for Ableton Live 12+, Cubase 15+, Bitwig 5+, and Logic Pro 12+, with onboard transport, navigation, and mixer controls plus automatic DAW detection. The interface features 7 encoders, 9 buttons, a 4.3-inch colour LCD, and pitch and modulation sliders, with DIN MIDI In/Out/Thru, USB-C, and two assignable pedal inputs for I/O. Manufactured in Poland with a white aluminium top panel and black base, the 61-key unit measures 9 x 30 x 106 cm and weighs 11kg.

Ctrl-E, Expressive E’s free companion plugin and sound ecosystem, is included and delivers 900+ expressive presets drawn from leading sound engine partners including Kilohearts, AAS, Synapse Audio, and Dawesome — all fully pre-mapped for the Osmose keybed with no setup required. The built-in MPE Arpeggiator creates evolving, per-note-independent patterns, and the Press Glide feature enables pressure-driven portamento unique to the Osmose platform.
