Expressive E Osmose 49 CE MIDI Controller

The Expressive E Osmose 49 CE is a next-generation MPE MIDI controller built around the same proprietary expressive keybed as the acclaimed Osmose synthesizer — without the built-in sound engine. This makes it the definitive choice for producers and performers whose sounds live in their DAW, plugins, or hardware synthesizers, and who want to bring a level of physical expressivity to their setup that conventional MIDI keyboards simply cannot deliver. The keybed captures eight distinct gestural dimensions per note: Tap, Press, Pitch Bend, Vibrato, Shake, Strum, Portamento (Press Glide), and Expressive Note-Off — allowing players to bend individual notes inside chords, add per-note vibrato directly from the key surface, and shape the entire arc of a phrase from attack through release with the nuance of an acoustic instrument.

The Osmose CE operates in three modes — MPE Controller, Traditional MIDI Controller, and DAW Controller — making it fully compatible with any MPE-capable plugin or hardware synthesizer, as well as standard MIDI workflows. Deep DAW integration is available for Ableton Live 12+, Cubase 15+, Bitwig 5+, and Logic Pro 12+, with onboard controls covering transport, navigation, mixer functions, and automatic DAW detection. The interface includes 7 encoders, 9 buttons, a 4.3-inch colour LCD, and pitch and modulation sliders. Two assignable pedal inputs, DIN MIDI In/Out/Thru, and USB-C connectivity round out the I/O. The unit is manufactured in Poland and built with a white aluminium top panel and black base, weighing 10kg.

Included with every Osmose CE is Ctrl-E, Expressive E’s free companion plugin and sound ecosystem providing 900+ expressive presets built on leading sound engines from partners including Kilohearts, AAS, Synapse Audio, and Dawesome — each preset fully optimised for the Osmose keybed with no additional mapping required. A built-in MPE Arpeggiator generates evolving patterns with per-note independence, while existing non-MPE plugins and hardware can also be brought into the expressive performance fold through intelligent MIDI translation.
