Built in honor of Taylor’s 50th anniversary, the 514ce Legacy Grand Auditorium guitar pays tribute to the most treasured Taylors of the past. This acoustic-electric guitar is primed for fingerstyle performance, sporting a Western red cedar top that resounds with a warm, touch-sensitive, and beautifully compressed tonality. In lieu of Taylor’s modern V-bracing, the 514ce Legacy takes a turn toward Taylor’s earlier years with traditional X-bracing for a slightly fuller-sounding response. Neo-tropical mahogany sides support the top with a crisp, midrange-rich voice, all coming together to form an instrument that excels at more intimate strumming styles and just about every fingerpicking application you can imagine. Next, a deep Venetian cutaway grants effortless access to the breadth of the ebony-topped mahogany neck. And in a true departure from modern Taylor specs, the 514ce Legacy’s electronics section comprises an LR Baggs Element VTC under-saddle pickup that supplies acoustically authentic plugged-in tones. To ring in the company’s 50th anniversary, Taylor nostalgically dug through the features of its most historic models, bringing back specs that haven’t been available on most modern Taylors for years. From old-school Jumbos to square-shouldered dreadnoughts to traditional X-bracing, Legacy models harken back to Taylor’s earlier era, capturing the tones that put the company on the map in the first place.
