The craftsmanship that goes into each instrument by P. Mauriat is second to none. Our French brass and other metals are exceptionally resonant due to the extensive hand-hammering process it must endure in our factory. A single saxophone body will be hammered as many as 400 times before proceeding to the next technician for final shaping. Each tone hole is drawn from the saxophone one by one to ensure the precision and consistency required for excellent response and intonation. Our lacquer process is applied by three separate stages in order to achieve a timeless, vintage look that will last for ages. The final hand engraving process is masterfully accomplished with nothing more than a simple handheld tool and years of experience. Once complete, each instrument is carefully inspected and tested by one of our full-time quality control artists to ensure that our customers receive the absolute finest instrument available.

P. Mauriat outfitted the Le Bravo 200A alto with the nickel silver version of their Super VI neck — a favorite among experienced and professional saxophonists. The benefits of ribbed body construction

Integrating the multiple key posts into a single plate, so-called “ribbed” body construction gives the tube higher mass (and hence more rigidity and durability), and requires somewhat more effort from the player. This makes the horn blow with moderate resistance while delivering a solid fundamental with rich tonal color. For experienced intermediate and pro saxophonists with a more developed embouchure and sound concept, it’s a definite advantage. Although ribbed construction typically presents a slightly increased initial resistance, it effectively gives you another level of resonance — an extra “gear,” if you will — to blow through for additional dynamic range and expression. Simply put, you can push the P. Mauriat Le Bravo 200A further, and it will go exactly where you want it to go.
