The Focal Alpha Twin Evo Dual 6.5-Inch Powered Studio Monitor is a three-way tri-amplified active monitor that takes the Slatefiber transducer technology of the Alpha Evo range and adds a second 6.5-inch woofer, creating a 2.5-way design of considerably greater low-frequency extension, SPL capability, and stereo imaging breadth than a conventional single-woofer nearfield can achieve. Two Slatefiber cone woofers flank a central 1-inch aluminium inverted dome tweeter — all three drivers developed and manufactured in-house in Saint-Étienne, France — in a horizontal enclosure that mirrors the classic dual-woofer layout of Focal’s professional flagship monitors. The tri-amplified architecture assigns dedicated Class-D amplifiers to each element: 2×50W for the dual woofers and 30W for the tweeter, for a total of 130W, delivering a maximum SPL of 108dB peak at 1 metre and extending low-frequency reproduction to 38Hz.

Wide Sweet Spot, Horizontal Layout, and Professional Imaging

The defining acoustic advantage of the Focal Alpha Twin Evo is its wide, balanced stereo sweet spot — a direct consequence of the horizontal dual-woofer layout, which reduces vertical dispersion and extends the listening position across a broader horizontal arc than a vertically oriented two-way monitor. This makes the Alpha Twin Evo particularly well suited to wide mixing positions, post-production workstations, and situations where multiple listeners need to hear an accurate stereo image simultaneously. In addition, the large laminar port minimises turbulence distortion at high listening levels, ensuring that the extended low-frequency reproduction remains clean and controlled even at 108dB. The rear-panel tone controls — LF shelving (±6dB ≤250Hz), HF shelving (±3dB across 4.5–35kHz), and sensitivity switch — adapt the monitor to a range of room conditions, and balanced XLR, balanced TRS, and unbalanced RCA inputs cover all studio connectivity requirements.
