Apogee Duet 3 2×4 USB-C Audio Interface

The Apogee Duet 3 is a 2×4 USB-C audio interface built around two of Apogee’s most advanced microphone preamps, delivering professional studio-grade conversion in a compact aluminium body designed for mobile and desktop recording. The preamps use Apogee’s Advanced Stepped Gain Architecture — an analog circuit that dynamically optimises performance across the full 0–65dB gain range, maintaining exceptional bandwidth and minimising distortion at every gain setting, including at maximum. Equivalent input noise is -128dB unweighted at 60dB gain into a 150 Ohm load, and max input level is +18 dBu. A/D conversion achieves 119dB dynamic range (A-weighted) with THD+N of -103dB. D/A conversion reaches 125dB dynamic range — figures that place the Duet 3 at the top of its class by a meaningful margin. The zero-ohm headphone output (sub 0.5 Ohm impedance) delivers 124dB dynamic range and -109dB THD+N into a 600 Ohm load, driving high-impedance audiophile headphones with the power, balance, and frequency accuracy that most interface headphone outputs cannot match. I/O is routed via the included redesigned breakout cable: two XLR mic/line inputs, two 1/4″ instrument inputs, two balanced 1/4″ line outputs, and a 1/4″ headphone output.

Onboard hardware DSP runs the Apogee ECS Channel Strip — the same Bob Clearmountain–tuned processing available on the Boom — providing vintage-modelled 3-band EQ, compression with automatic make-up gain, and saturation applied directly to the input signal with zero additional monitoring latency. This allows you to track through full channel processing and hear a polished, mix-ready signal in your headphones in real time, without any CPU load. Apogee Control 2 manages all DSP, monitoring, direct mix, and routing settings on Mac, iOS, and Windows. The second USB-C port on the unit provides supplementary power for use with USB-A or lower-power hosts, ensuring reliable bus-powered operation across all compatible systems. A travel case is included, making the Duet 3 genuinely road-ready — equally at home in a hotel room, a tour bus, or a fixed desktop setup.

Compatible with all USB-C iPads and macOS 10.15 or later out of the box, and with Windows 10 and iOS/iPadOS 15 with the Camera Connection Kit, the Duet 3 ships with a 60-day Neural DSP plugin trial and a one-month SoundGym membership. For producers, songwriters, and engineers who want Apogee’s best-in-class mobile conversion and preamp performance, hardware DSP processing, and zero-compromise headphone monitoring without a rack or a desk, the Duet 3 is the definitive two-channel portable recording system.
