Jason Hinch

Jason Hinch is a top South African rock drummer who’s worked with everyone from Arno Carstens to Zolani Mahola, Albert Frost and Bok van Blerk to Piet Botha and Francois van Coke, as well as countless others (Valiant Swart, Hunter Kennedy, The Black Cat Bones and Noot Vir Noot to name just a few). The son of a Dr. Dr. Professor of classical music and a concert pianist and educator, Jason has been immersed in music his entire life. After studying Jazz composition and Jazz drumming at Pretoria Tech. and obtaining his BA in Music in 2010, Jason pursued a full-time touring and recording career performing over 200 shows a year and recording on numerous albums over the next several years.

Jason has played many of the biggest festivals and stages in the country, several times, including; Innibos, Rocking The Daisies, Oppikoppi, KKNK, RAMfest, Up The Creek, Splashy Fen, STRAB (Mozambique), FORR (Mozambique), The Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Festival, Durban Blues Fest, Table Mountain Blues Summit, Old Mutual Music In the Gardens (DBN, PTA, JHB), Big Blues Fest Cape Town, Jo’burg Day, Park Acoustics, numerous Campus Invasions and Jools and many, many more and he has done so with many different kinds of bands (Blues, Rock, Jazz, Metal, Hip-Hop and Pop.) He has also toured internationally, all over Africa, as well as South America. Today, Jason performs with the 11 times platinum selling Afrikaans artist Bok van Blerk, as well as many others.
