Avid Pro Tools | HDX Core PCIe Card (No Software)
For South African studios building or expanding a Pro Tools | HDX system, the Avid HDX Core from Marshall Music is the dedicated DSP processing card that powers the most demanding professional sessions. Designed to work alongside Pro Tools | Ultimate, the HDX Core delivers the real-time mixing horsepower that large-format studios rely on for low-latency tracking and mixing with extensive plugin counts.
Inside the Avid HDX Core PCIe Card
At the heart of the HDX Core sit eighteen 350MHz TI DSP processors, delivering a combined 6.3GHz of aggregated processing power, alongside two high-performance FPGA chips. This dedicated DSP architecture handles real-time plugin processing independently of your computer’s CPU, resulting in extremely low 0.7ms latency — critical for tracking musicians who need to hear themselves without delay.
A single HDX Core supports 64 channels of I/O, and that figure scales up to 192 channels when three HDX cards are installed together, making it suitable for everything from a project studio to a large-format mixing room. In addition, the card supports up to 2,048 simultaneous voices and audio tracks across all sample rates, with 32-bit floating point processing and a 64-bit floating point mixer for pristine audio quality throughout the signal chain.
For studios using extensive hardware inserts, the HDX Core also provides automatic delay compensation of up to 16,383 samples, ensuring everything stays perfectly in sync regardless of how complex your outboard routing becomes. As a result, engineers can build elaborate hybrid analog/digital setups without worrying about timing issues.
Note that this version does not include Pro Tools | Ultimate software, so it’s best suited to studios already running Pro Tools | Ultimate or planning to purchase it separately. Whether you’re scaling up an existing HDX rig or building a new large-format Pro Tools system, the HDX Core delivers the processing power professional studios depend on. Order yours today from Marshall Music, South Africa’s home for Avid Pro Tools gear.
