The Fender 70th-anniversary American Vintage II 1954 Stratocaster is Fender’s ultimate spot-on tribute to the original Strat that debuted seven decades ago. This American Vintage II 1954 Stratocaster comes appointed to represent every last vintage detail of those coveted first-batch Strats, right down to its period-correct switch tip, knobs, and 8-hole pickguard. Of course, that means a solid 2-piece ash body and 1954-“C”-profiled maple neck as well, complete with a matching maple fingerboard for that flawless first-year feel that’ll drop you right into ’54! You’ll also be working with a set of Fender single-line Deluxe tuning machines and a vintage-spec 6-point synchronized tremolo bridge for true old-school playability that lives up to modern standards in live and studio settings.

Feels like a ’54

The first test of this guitar’s outstanding replication quality is its playing feel, and the 1954 Stratocaster passes with flying colors. It starts with a solid 2-piece body of ash, a bright and resonant tonewood foundation with a solid feel over the shoulder that stays true to Fender’s solidbody wood of choice up through early 1956. A single-piece maple neck carved to Fender’s 1954 “C” profile provides an unmistakably original grip that still plays comfortably to keep up with contemporary demands. Topping the neck is a 7.25-inch-radius maple fingerboard, complete with 21 vintage frets and marked by those iconic black dots that let you bend, bar, and bounce between octaves with flawless fluidity.

At the bridge, middle, and neck positions, you’ll find fitting 70th-anniversary 1954 single-coil Strat pickups at the ready. Designed to be utterly faithful to the original three that came in the debut model, these 70th-anniversary pickups are engineered to unleash tonal character unlike anything outside of ’54. With its accompanying dual Tone and master Volume controls, its sonics can be contoured to any era-appropriate tonality of your choosing with remarkable precision. Sharpen up for outlaw western leads, dampen down for jazz chording, or find the perfect blend that speaks your language. Dial in some grit, and you’ll really hear these single-coils come to life with attitude straight out of rock ’n’ roll’s inception!
