Barry Van Zyl - DW Drums Endorsee

Cape Town based session musician, producer and bandleader.

Barry has been the drummer in the Johnny Clegg Band since 1999. He also works with numerous artists both in SA and abroad. (i.e.: Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Fiachna o'Braonain (Hothouse Flowers), Soweto Gospel Choir, Theuns Jordaan, Arno Carstens, 'Black', Hotstix Mabuse, London Chamber Orchestra, Jimmie Earl Perry, Sibongile Khumalo etc.)

He also produces and co-composes for artists, movie soundtracks, jingles and library music projects.

Barry uses DW Collectors Series kits and DW 9000 Series hardware.
Configurations depend on the nature of the project being played or recorded.
18", 20" or 22" kick drums, Aluminium, wood or brass snares and various tom set ups using 10, 12, 14 and 16" fast toms.
