SABIAN ANNOUNCED 2012 PLAYERS’ CHOICE CYMBALS AT NAMM!
4 new cymbal models unveiled on SABIAN Booth

Traditionally, drum companies spend a great deal of time and money on product development, and then spend
even more time and money telling drummers what to like – and what to play. But what if that paradigm were turned
completely on its head? What if drummers could choose which cymbal models manufacturers should make? Well –
that’s exactly what innovative cymbal brand SABIAN is doing in 2012.

SABIAN Vault product specialists were asked to develop 12 exciting new cymbal models. The cymbals were secretly
shipped to a studio in California, where a group of top SABIAN endorsers – including Mike Portnoy, Dave Weckl, Neil
Peart, Terry Bozzio and Ray Luzier – were filmed playing them over a period of two days. Viewers were able to watch
this fascinating video online and could vote to eliminate one cymbal each week, for 8 weeks.

Here is what they have to say about their NEW CYMBALS:

HOLY CHINA FROM SABIAN – NOW AVAILABLE IN 17"
Explosive new size available in popular Chad Smith model

In 2011 SABIAN introduced the Holy China – and the response from drummers around the world was positively
overwhelming. A testament to SABIAN innovation and forward-thinking design, the Holy China featured a higher
profile to raise the pitch, holes for volume and sustain, and a large, unfinished bell for cut and durability. It was truly
a modern Chinese cymbal.

“We launched Holy China with 19" and 21" models because those are the sizes Chad loves to play” says SABIAN
Master Product Specialist Mark Love. “But we’ve had so much demand for custom 17" models that in the spirit of
‘give-the-people-what-they-want’, we’re adding the 17" to our product line”. Not as monstrously loud as its larger
siblings, the 17" will appeal to drummers who want the unique trashy tone of the Holy China, but less volume.

However, even at 17" the Holy China is not for the faint of heart. A unique hole pattern, large raw bell, high profile
and wide lip all combine to create a monster of loudness and cut. It’s a unique and explosive package, and it was
developed with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith – only from SABIAN.

NEW B8 PRO O-ZONE CRASHES DELIVER THE GOODS
High-Decibel Design Brings Focused Cut to B8 Pro Line

SABIAN introduced its radically innovative O-Zone cymbals in 2002 with the launch of HHX Evolution models. At the
time, there was nothing else that looked or sounded like O-Zones, and they quickly went on to become best-sellers.
Described as having “a space-age look”, they delivered a new sound that was aggressive, raw and nasty. Now, that
same sound is available in the SABIAN B8 Pro series – great news for drummers stepping up to their first set of B8
bronze cymbals!

The two new B8 Pro O-Zone Crashes feature similar O-Zone multi-holed design as HHX and AAX models, but their
double ring of response enhancing holes guarantees that these radical new models respond rapidly, with brilliant
explosion and dirty agitation.

“The O-Zone is not a typical crash, it’s a crude and aggressive combination of a thin crash and a Chinese – extremely
raw, nasty and very biting,” says Master Product Specialist Mark Love. “Not only do the 2" holes increase the nasty
factor, they also lighten the weight of the cymbal. So while its size and volume remain the same, the response is
actually much faster because there’s less metal mass to move.”

Available in 16" and 18" models, the new B8 Pro O-Zone Crashes are a great addition to Sabian’s new, better B8 Pro
line. Already touted as a cymbal for drummers who play with “Speed, Power and Aggression”, with the addition of
O-Zone Crashes, B8 Pro just got even faster, more powerful, and more aggressive!

AAX OMNI – A BRAND NEW CYMBAL FROM SABIAN!
Innovative new model developed with Jojo Mayer

Not a crash, not a ride – OMNI is a revolutionary new cymbal from innovative Cymbal-maker SABIAN. Developed for
the astonishing Jojo Mayer, the vision for OMNI was to create a cymbal with outstanding sonic contrast both when
played on its own or with other cymbals.

This ambitious goal required a radical rethink of the architecture and construction of a cymbal. “Our 30 years
of innovative cymbal making really served us well here,” says Master Product Specialist Mark Love. “OMNI was a
challenging process, but in the end we couldn’t be happier with the result.”

A medium-weight center in brilliant finish, and an extra-thin, natural finish edge make for a cymbal that’s striking in
appearance. But it’s the highly musical tone structure and careful balance of frequency that enable this cymbal to sit
so well in any musical setting.

“For me, this opens up a whole new approach to playing cymbals,” says seminal artist Jojo Mayer. “Never has so
much sonic versatility existed in just one cymbal. This is a go-anywhere, play-anywhere cymbal, and ultimately, you
can play any gig with just this one cymbal on your kit.”

Available in 18" and 22" models, OMNI is the latest cymbal innovation from SABIAN.

SABIAN ANNOUNCES A NEW, BETTER B8 Pro

What better way to mark 20 years of the SABIAN B8 Pro series than launching a new, even better B8 Pro?

Bright, tonally focused sounds, a wide range of models and Brilliant looks that kill have been hallmarks of the SABIAN
B8 Pro series since 1991. These qualities have propelled B8 Pro to consistently solid sales figures throughout its 20
year history. However, not content to rest on their laurels, the artisans of the SABIAN Vault are marking 20 years of
this iconic cymbal with the design of a new, better B8 Pro.

“The knowledge and techniques we have acquired by producing some of the world’s best cymbals – such as the
HHX and Artisan series – don’t get forgotten when we come to the design table for B8 Pro,” says SABIAN Master
Product Specialist Mark Love. “Even though this is a cymbal designed for players just getting into their first set of
quality B8 Bronze cymbals, we have introduced a new, larger hammering pattern as well as subtle design changes
to the bell that have significantly improved its sound.”

The results speak for themselves. The new, better B8 Pro is richer sounding, with a complexity of tone not typically
found in cymbals at this price point. It opens up when hit hard, but now also “gives up the goods” when played lightly.

It’s the latest cymbal development from award winning cymbal maker SABIAN.

SABIAN INTRODUCES VAULT ARTISAN TRADITIONAL
SYMPHONIC MEDIUM-HEAVY EXTRA DARK

SABIAN introduced orchestral cymbals to its premium VAULT collection in 2009 with Artisan Traditional Symphonic
Medium Light and Medium Heavy models. Created to fill demand from the world’s top percussionists, VAULT Artisan
Symphonic Cymbals have consistently outperformed and outclassed other orchestral cymbals since their inception.

And now once again, in response to the overwhelmingly positive feedback received from professional
percussionists to Artisan Traditional Symphonic Medium Heavy Extra Dark prototypes, SABIAN is proud to announce
the addition of these exceptional Extra Dark models to its orchestral cymbal line-up.

“We quickly recognized that professional musicians loved these extra dark, heavy models for their ability to cut
through the orchestra,” said SABIAN Master Product Specialist Mark Love. “They’re easy to play softly at very low
volumes, and still produce a fantastically rich sound.”

Considerably darker than current Traditional Symphonic pairs, SABIAN Extra Dark models provide exceptionally
clear articulation, extended dynamic range and the ability to cut through any orchestral setting.

Artisan Traditional Symphonic Medium Heavy Extra Dark cymbals are handcrafted by SABIAN Vault Artisans from
SABIAN B20 Cast Bronze.

HOLY CHINA! A BRAND NEW CHINESE CYMBAL FROM SABIAN
Explosive new model developed with Chad Smith.

SABIAN introduces Holy China – the latest cymbal model added to the SABIAN Vault collection. Using SABIAN innovation
and forward-thinking cymbal design, the Holy China features a higher profile to raise the pitch, holes for
volume and sustain, and a large, unfinished bell for cut and durability. This is truly a modern China cymbal.

“This is the first cymbal of its kind we’ve ever developed,” says SABIAN Master Product Specialist Mark Love. “Fans of
SABIAN O-Zone cymbals will immediately notice the smaller, more frequent hole pattern. The smaller holes create a
smooth attack without the lows and distortion created by the larger O-Zone holes. And they look really cool, too!”

The Holy China is not for the faint of heart. The combination of 51 holes in the 19" model (64 holes in the 21" model!),
large raw bell, high profile and wide lip create a monster of loudness and cut. It’s a unique and explosive package,
and it was developed with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith – only from SABIAN.
